Narracan Mechanics’ Military Display

At the moment this display has a temporary home at the front of the Narracan Mechanics’ Institute Library building.

To honour the sacrifices made by so many, this comprehensive display includes a Boer War plaque, WWI honour roll, showcases with WWI and WWII memorabilia, photographs and pictures, military books and uniforms and the original WWI SMS Emden steam whistle, which is of national significance. Exhibits include artefacts and stories of Gippsland servicemen and women.

Due to the Military Display’s want of a permanent home, two horse-drawn WWI military wagons are housed in separate areas at Old Gippstown. A rare WWI Mark VI Field Ambulance is housed in the Livery Stable extension and a WWI General Service Wagon is currently in building 9
